  • 2 cups Sweet Rice Flour Glutinous Rice Flour
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Red Bean Paste Optional for filling
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds For garnish

  • Mix the Flour and Water:
    In a large bowl, combine Sweet Rice Flour and Sugar.
    Gradually add the Water while stirring, until you have a smooth and thick batter.
  • Steam the Mixture:
    Pour the batter into a shallow heatproof dish and smooth it out evenly. Place the dish in a steamer over boiling water and steam it for 20 minutes.
    The rice cake should be firm and slightly sticky when it’s done.
  • Shape and Fill the Tteok:
    Once the rice cake is steamed, let it cool slightly.
    If you’re adding a filling, spread a thin layer of Sweet Red Bean Paste on top.
    Roll the rice cake into small bite-sized pieces, using your hands to shape them into neat little rounds.
  • Garnish and Serve:
    Sprinkle Sesame Seeds over the top for extra flavor and texture.
